I love Bergen, and we have been super lucky with the weather! So far, we've been to the aquarium, Johannes showed me his school, went bowling with my one of my friends that I studied with in Denmark, and saw my first ever standup show!
Today was spent walking around the city, and we decided to go to Fløyen which is one of the mountain tops in Bergen. It was beautiful, and we could see the whole city super clearly!
Johannes left Stavanger to go back to school in Bergen a few days ago :( It was a sad day :(
But it's okaaay! Vilde and I were supposed to drive up on Friday (tomorrow), because she's going to visit her brother who also lives in Bergen. But then I thought.. I'm finished at work, and I have no plans today... Why don't I go a day earlier and surprise him? So I did 😇
I messaged him and said I changed my mind about driving with Vilde, just to mess with him a little. But I'm not a complete asshole, so I sent him these pictures (above) right after and said "I'm getting on a flight that leaves in an hour instead" ♥
I'm actually at the airport now, and I'm so freaking excited! But I'll keep you posted! Byeee
Yes, you read that right... Out of all the places in the world, Helen and I are going on a girl's trip to Budapest! It's not just because we really wanted to go to Budapest though, but because Helen's helping me move into my new apartment! 🤩
Yesterday, right after I got off the plane in Norway, I got a message on instagram. It was from Kine, a girl I had met at the international veterinary seminar in Budapest in March, and she asked me if I wanted to help out with lambing at a farm. How freaking cool is that? I've ALWAYS wanted to help out during lambing season, but I never knew where to go or who to contact.. So I got super excited when she invited me to help out!
I got to milk some of the sheep and feed the lambs that had trouble drinking on their own, got to play with the lambs, helped with getting the sheep and their lambs onto the transport truck, kept the sheep in place as my Kine pulled the lambs out, and got to observe everything that has to do with lambing. I had so much fun, and I hope I get to do it again next year! ♥
Aaaaah, I'm finally going home!! I haven't been home since November, and I cannot freaking wait! So far, I don't have a lot of plans, but it'll be nice to just relax, not think about school for once, be with family, and visit my friends. ♥
What are your plans for the easter holiday?
Aaaaahh! This has been such an amazing week, I'm so sad that it's over already! :(
I've made lots of new friends, become closer with people I already knew, made it all the way to the 2250m above sea level mark (and down in one piece haha), partied, relaxed, danced, and so much more. Veterinary medicine is a really tough and stressful education, so I think it's super important to take a mental break every once in a while and do something for yourself! This was an amazing way to do just that, and I'm already excited to see where we're going next year.
Day one was incredible! I started the day with my roomates, but they are all amazing skiers and snowboarders, so I'll probably go with another group until I get more comfortable and confident..
They were all super patient though, which I really appreciated! I fell maybe 23 seconds (?) after getting off the ski lift, and I was helped right away, haha! I then fell face first down the first hill, once on my ass a few minutes later, and then another face-plant in the middle of the last hill... Well... There might have been a few other times, but those are the ones I'm willing to admit. 😉
Now my legs feel like jello, and I'm so ready for dinner! ♥
I'm so excited to start the day! Sophie, Victoria, Ruaidhri, Fredrik and I are all sharing a cabin, and we're finally ready to enjoy some time away from vet school...
I think we've all gotten so used to apartment buildings and pavement, that we all had a mini freak out when we woke up and saw snow AND trees! Hahah.. I could get used to this!
... Chamrousse, France! 🤩
We left Budapest last night, and just arrived in Chamrousse. It took us 21.5 hours to get there because of all the stops along the way, but we are finally settling in! We'll be here for a week, so stay tuned for lots of pictures.
YOU GUYS... I'M IN BUDAPEST!
I didn't taks a whole lot of pictures today, because my dad and I travelled with three (!!) suitcases, three hand luggage bags, one golfbag, and Baltus + his travel crate. Getting from the hotel to the airport was a circus, but we made it just in time... Getting from the airport in Budapest to my apartment was even worse, but hey, we're FINALLY here!!
The weather is beautiful, I'm super happy with the apartment, everyone wants to pet Baltus, and Baltus loves the attention. So far so good!
Unfortunately, that's all I have for today. We're going out to eat now, and then I have to unpack everything. I'll be back at the end of the week, though! In the meantime, let me know if you have any questions or suggestions in the comments section! ♥
Who am I?
Hi, I'm Ine! I'm 22 years old, from Norway, and I currently live in Budapest, Hungary, with my dogs, Baltus and Phoebe. I've wanted to become a veterinarian for as long as I can remember, and I'm currently a 2nd year vet student at UNIVET. I'll mainly be writing about my experience as a veterinary student in Budapest, but also about my day to day life and my experience of life in Budapest.
